SHARON DIANE SHEWEL (BORODITSKY) We regret to announce the passing of Sharon Diane Shewel (Boroditsky) in Winnipeg on December 1, 2010 at the age of 63. She was predeceased by her mother Anne, father Lester, and sister-in-law Adrie, and survived by loving husband Jack Boroditsky, brother Ron Staats, and children Mark (Nikki), Chris (Andrea), and Kym (Lincoln). Born in Nipawin, SK, she spent her early years in Red Lake, ON, and moved with her family to Winnipeg in the early 1950s. Married to Michael Shewel in 1965, she accompanied him in career moves with stops in Eastern Canada, Gander, and Edmonton, finally settling back home in Winnipeg. While raising her children, Sharon returned to the workforce as a paraprofessional at Valley Gardens Junior High, science technician at Kildonan East Collegiate, and computer technician at Miles Macdonell Collegiate. Certified as a computer programmer/systems analyst through Red River College, she became an adult educator, taking special joy in helping seniors learn computer usage. An avid traveller, Sharon visited Greece and many other parts of Europe, as well as China, Guatemala, and several trips to Disney, of course. Cruises were her particular favourite. Sharon lived life to the fullest, and together with second husband Jack, enjoyed the equivalent of countless years in the span of just a few, despite the illness which eventually took her from us. One of our brightest lights and greatest joys, Sharon will be deeply missed by all friends and family. We extend our deepest gratitude to Barbara Ammeter, Dr. Sisler, Dr. Pitz, and Cheryl Gnanapragasam of CancerCare, and the great nursing staff of GD 4th floor of the Health Sciences Centre who took such great care towards Sharon's comfort. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 8 at 1:00 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church, 211 Kimberly just off Henderson; private family interment to follow at Glen Eden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
